Naira estimates use ₦1,346.455 per US dollar as at 30 October 2026, rounded to the nearest ₦10,000. The exchange rate and conversion fees applied to a booking may differ.
Hourly estimates exclude positioning, airport and handling fees and navigation charges. Crew costs, parking, taxes, minimum usage and requested services should be confirmed in your quote.
These are estimates. Actual costs may differ based on your route, travel dates, aircraft availability, passenger and luggage requirements, positioning and requested services. Your final price and inclusions will be confirmed in a personalised quote before booking.
Someone sends you a rate per hour. You have an idea of how long the flight might take, so the calculation seems easy: rate multiplied by time. It is a reasonable place to start, but it can leave out costs that matter to your budget.
Before you compare rates, ask what each number describes. A clearly explained total is more useful than a small hourly figure that needs several unanswered questions to become a real quote.
What does “per hour” mean in this proposal?
Ask the operator or broker to define the time being charged. Does the proposal use time in the air, a ground-to-ground measure, an estimated sector time or a minimum daily allowance? Do not assume every quotation uses the same definition.
Then ask how the time is calculated and what happens if the actual operation differs from the estimate. The document should make it clear whether you are agreeing a fixed itinerary total or an amount that may be adjusted under stated terms.
The aircraft may fly without your guests
Positioning flights move an aircraft to your departure point or to its next location after dropping you off. They may form part of the charged itinerary. A quoted passenger flight time does not tell you how much positioning is required.
Ask for the positioning sectors and their charging basis to be stated. If those costs are already included in a fixed trip total, make sure they are not being added again when comparing another offer. If they remain provisional, ask what could change them.
Minimum usage, waiting and overnight plans
Ask whether minimum billable hours apply per day or per trip. A short passenger flight does not automatically mean you will pay only for that time. Minimum usage is a term to confirm for the particular aircraft offer, not a universal rule to assume.
A return after a meeting may involve an agreed waiting period; a later return may involve overnight arrangements or further positioning. Ask how the proposal treats those circumstances and how an extension or schedule change would be agreed. Do not infer free waiting time from an hourly flight rate.
What might sit outside the hourly rate?
Clarify fuel, airport landing, handling, parking, applicable taxes and any brokerage fee. Ask about catering, transfers and requested services too. These may be included, separately quoted or still awaiting confirmation; the rate alone does not establish which.
Confirm the payment currency and quote validity. Where naira payment is offered against another currency, ask how conversion is set and when the final naira amount becomes fixed. An attractive rate in one currency cannot be compared fairly with a total in another without that basis.
Ask for an estimate you can actually use
Request a written total for the complete itinerary, with the aircraft or category, operator where identified, route, dates, guests and luggage. If the total is built from hours, ask for the assumed billable hours, positioning and minimum usage, alongside the included and excluded charges.
The estimates above show the aircraft examples, exchange-rate date and exclusions. Use them as a starting point for your budget, then request a personalised quote for your actual itinerary.
A simple question to send with your brief
“Please quote the full journey for these dates and guests. Identify the proposed aircraft and operator, explain the billable hours and positioning, and show which airport charges, taxes and requested services are included. Please also state any minimum usage, waiting terms, currency and quote expiry.”
Add your actual route, travel dates, timing window, return plan and baggage. You can prepare the brief on RentJet and review it in your email app before sending. RentJet acts as a broker; only the confirmed operator offer and booking terms establish the arrangements for your journey.

Frequently asked questions
What is the private jet charter cost per hour in Nigeria?
The regional planning references shown above range from about ₦4.31 million–₦7.41 million ($3,200–$5,500) per occupied hour for light jets to about ₦11.85 million–₦14.14 million ($8,800–$10,500) for heavy jets. They exclude positioning and other charges and do not establish the final Nigerian trip price.
Can I multiply the hourly rate by my flight time?
That may omit positioning, minimum billable hours or charges outside the rate. Ask for the complete priced itinerary and the definition of billable time.
Are airport charges included in an hourly charter rate?
Only if the proposal says so. Ask which landing, handling, parking, passenger-related charges and taxes, where applicable, are included, excluded or provisional.
Does a lower hourly rate mean a cheaper charter?
Not necessarily. Different aircraft, charged hours, positioning, inclusions and terms can produce different totals. Compare quotes for the same requirements.
Is the hourly estimate the full price of my private flight?
No. Positioning, minimum usage, airport charges and requested services can affect the total. Request a complete itinerary quote that states the charging basis, inclusions and exclusions.
