What is the difference between airport protocol and an airport transfer?
Airport protocol is assistance with airport processes under the service and access arrangements agreed. An airport transfer is the road journey between the airport and an address. Lounge access and private-terminal access are separate permissions or inclusions. Confirm each item in writing; booking one does not automatically book the others.
“VIP arrival” can sound like one service. It may actually describe several bookings, with different suppliers and different limits. Ask what will happen from the moment you arrive until you reach your destination.

What does airport protocol mean in Nigeria?
The term is commonly used for airport passenger assistance. FAAN publishes an Airport Protocol Service. Other providers may describe their own meet-and-assist packages using similar language.
Ask who supplies the service, where the representative meets you, which steps they assist with and which airport permissions apply. Assistance does not remove the need for valid documents or compliance with airport, immigration and customs rules.
A simple example: one booking may still leave a gap
You book a driver to meet you outside arrivals. You also want somebody to help an elderly parent through the terminal. Those are two different needs. Tell the coordinator about both and ask who is responsible for each.
A phrase such as “VIP pickup” is too broad to settle the question. Ask whether it covers only the vehicle or also an authorised representative inside the terminal.
What should the written quote explain?
Check the airport, terminal, flight date, passenger count and exact meeting point. Then check the inclusions, waiting allowance, additional charges, cancellation terms and contact for delays.
- Who meets the passenger, and where?
- Is the car included, and what vehicle is confirmed?
- Is lounge access included or optional?
- What happens if the flight or arrival formalities take longer?
- Which assistance needs have been accepted in writing?
