What should I confirm before arranging a private airport transfer in Lagos or Abuja?
Confirm the exact terminal, destination address, passenger and bag count, suitable vehicle, meeting point, waiting allowance and full price. Agree who updates the driver if the flight changes. A private airport transfer is a car journey; it does not automatically include airport protocol assistance, lounge access or private-terminal access.
The aircraft may be comfortable, but a car that cannot fit the bags can undo that feeling quickly. Ground transfers are small details until they become the only thing standing between your guests and a restful arrival.
Airport pickup, chauffeur and protocol are different arrangements
An airport pickup usually describes the journey from the airport to your destination. A chauffeur booking may cover additional time or stops. Airport protocol describes assistance with airport processes, subject to the service booked and airport rules.
Ask for each item separately. A car waiting outside does not mean somebody will meet you inside the terminal.

Match the vehicle to the group and the bags
Ask about usable luggage space, not only the advertised seat count. Four travellers with large cases may need a different vehicle from four travellers carrying small overnight bags.
Discuss child seats, steps, mobility equipment and assistance before confirming. Describe the requirement clearly and ask for written confirmation from the transport provider; a vehicle described as executive is not automatically suitable for every guest.
Use the confirmed terminal location
Share the exact pickup facility, entrance and meeting instructions. Do not send only the city or airport code. If the journey uses a private handling facility, the driver needs that location rather than the airline arrivals hall.
Agree whether the driver meets you inside where permitted, at an entrance or at the vehicle. Ask what name or identifier they will use, and verify unexpected changes through your established contact.
Make waiting and delays explicit
Ask when waiting time starts, how much is included and how extra time is charged. Clarify what happens if arrival formalities take longer or if the aircraft’s schedule changes.
Identify one person responsible for passing updates between the flight team, driver and guests. Live tracking alone does not explain every change and is not a substitute for a confirmed pickup instruction.
Check the commercial arrangement
Confirm the supplier, vehicle category, agreed route, stops, currency, taxes and cancellation terms. Any estimate of road duration should be treated as an estimate, especially when you have an onward appointment.
